Moment Series Sculpture

Moment Series

Moment is a sculpture series that combines heirloom porcelain with blown borosilicate glass. The antique porcelain cups carry traces of history into the present, while the shaped glass represents a frozen moment. The glass is formed as if a liquid were splashing, so a brief instant is held still. Transparent and opaque colored glass was selected to suit the structure and concept of each cup. Every glass form is blown first and then joined to the porcelain piece. The intent is to preserve special moments within rapidly passing time.

Turtel Lighting

Turtel

Turtle Comes, Luck Comes is an interactive light installation shaped as a sea turtle. The sculpture is made of epoxy resin and metal and measures 720 by 1000 by 400 centimeters. The patterns of the shell are drawn from wave forms, a reference to fishermen returning safely from the sea. A crystal ball is placed beside the turtle. When hands are held near the crystal ball, sensors are triggered and the light in the body and the eyes of the turtle changes. The work reflects a wish for good luck, blessing and calm.

Black Star Vessel

Black Star

Black Star is a decorative vessel handcrafted from alder wood. The design transforms a wood species with little grain or colour into an object that is pleasing to the eye and interesting to touch. The outer form is shaped by woodturning, and the inside is hollowed with bent tools. Many small holes are then drilled by hand and formed into cones, and an orange stain is applied inside them. A pyrographic pen adds small star motifs. The surface is finally charred black, which creates a soft, warm touch and strong contrast. The vessel measures 220 by 220 by 180 millimetres.
